Sarasota job fair focuses on matching manufacturers with workers' skills

SARASOTA - With global orders for eqVice president of manufacturing at New England Machinery in Sarasotauipment that puts lids on jars and caps and pumps in bottles, New England Machinery is looking to expand its payroll from 50 to 57.

But the south Manatee County employer has had a difficult time finding qualified applicants to fill its needs for sheet metal fabricators, mechanical design engineers and capital equipment salespeople.

"Florida is not known to be a manufacturing state, so it's a little more difficult," Marge Bonura, director of marketing at New England, said of the hiring process.
